In-Flight Entertainment Adapter AirFly From TwelveSouth Launches For AirPods

This Adapter Makes AirPods Compatible With Any 3.5mm Headphone Jack

Apple is changing the way we think about using headphones with AirPods, but there are a few drawbacks to living in a truly wireless world. Frequent flyers and gym visitors know the pain of having to keep an extra set of 3.5mm buds around to interface with a world that isn't quite ready to give up the headphone jack.

Now a new device launched by Twelve South called the AirFly one is designed to solve those problems once and for all. This new device allows AirPods to be used with any device that previously required a wire. It is a solution to a problem created by Apple, but we would not be surprised to see Apple embracing something like this on their own, considering how adapter-friendly the company has become lately.

Twelve South's innovative new product is a Bluetooth adapter for any device that features a 3.5mm headphone jack, and the company says you can expect to get about eight hours of use from one charge. The device is available for purchase directly from their website for $39.99, or you can buy from Amazon. If you are traveling soon, stay on the lookout for these as they will show up in most Best Buy kiosks available at major international airports across the country.

As for how useful this product is, there's nothing really unique about it since Bluetooth adapters have existed since the dawn of the technology. Twelve South does promise a seamless experience for AirPod users who want to use their AirPods for all their listening activities. The AirFly negates needing to carry around a second pair of headphones with a 3.5mm headphone jack, but it is just another device you will have to ensure is charged before you can use it.

What do you think about using adapters to solve the issue between wireless Bluetooth earbuds and the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack? Would you rather carry around an additional accessory to use your current gear, or just use a set of wired headphones where the new technology is not supported? Most people who have made the switch to wireless earbuds feel as though they could not make the switch back, so we are interested in hearing your opinion about accessories like this. Let us know in the comments below whether or not you would use an accessory like this in your day-to-day life.
